Who wins..IDLI HOUSE or Ayyappa Food Stall??

" A Variety of only Idlis with accompaniments like the traditional powdered chutneys, sambhar, rasam, coconut chutneys etc. served in our time-tasted qualitative & hygienic manner." -- that's what A.Rama nayak's Udipi IDLI HOUSE has got to say..

What media's said about it..

Myself, Vikram and Raghu were walking and having a chat about the dinner we can have, when I suggested them the 4 foot Paper Dosa at Cafe Madras,Matunga. No other second thoughts, we were in the taxi heading to Matunga, the southern delight of Mumbai.

Within minutes, we were standing in front of Cafe Madras just to add to the misery of a long waiting queue outside the resto and our murmuring tummies...

An immediate reflex strikes me.I suggest the IDLI HOUSE where I have been numerous times..We are already walking, rather running to grab our waiting Steamed Idlis...This place boasts of some 36 varieties of Idlis which can't be had at one go!There are some Idlis which are specific to only some days of the week..

After waiting for a few mins for a table, we impatiently prefer to eat standing..Raghu and Vikram, being 1st timers are confused by looking at the vast array of Idli's in the menu..
Our day's innings begin...
1st round--I order the Sambar Oondi, Raghu says CurdKadhi Idli and Vikram opts for Kakdi Idli...We munch in with the coconut chutney, red chutney, green chutney,Dal Poodi with Oil and Sambhar..
2nd Round-- I opt out, Ragu goes for Butter Mysore Idli and Vikram gets Khotto( Idli steamed with Jackfruit leaves)...while my spoon and mouth plays sport with their Idlis..

ScoreCard:
Food -- 8.5/10
Ambience -- 6/10  (very congested)
Service -- 8/10
Value for Money-- 9/10

Free -- Molga Poodi, Dal Poodi
Extra Charges -- Another Variety Chutney..Chargeable..
Next Destination, I take both to Ayyappa's Dosa Joint which is half a kilometer walk..
This is a road-side joint where anyone has to eat only standing, but the fact is, this joint is always packed with people from all walks...there are the middle class, the upper middle class and then the high class with big big cars waiting for their turn..reason..of course the taste...

And here are the waiters taking the orders from the standing swarm and shouting for their order to the cooks who are all the time circling their hands in the tawa with the batter..
Looking at the big menu board and confused from where to start, our mouth's are already oozing buckets of water...
Finally after heavy thoughts, I go for the Palak Mysore Sada Dosa and the other 2 go for the Cheese Panner Podi Butter Dosa...

In a few minutes, its in our hands with the Sambhar,Coconut Chutney, Red Chutney...Ohh no!! even now while typing, my mouth is just watering..

Next i order their famous hot Sheera. All 3 of us dig our spoons and there...!! it just melted in our mouths...
Order for the 2nd plate is already given...
Finish off with Cold Maaza...

ScoreCard:
Food -- 9/10
Ambience -- 8/10
Service -- 8/10
Value for Money-- 9/10
Free -- Mouth Watering Names in the Menu Board and
            Sight of another person's Plate

Final saying, we can't compare both IDLI HOUSE and Ayyappa..both got their own USP..their variety & their taste...

Highly Recommended !!
